On a different note, have you heard of the term ‘Brand Identity’? It is the perception of a brand by the consumer. Say Ferrari, you think red sports car. Say Volvo, you think safe vehicles. Say Maggi, you think instant noodles. Say Nike, you think quality over-priced sports goods.
In the name of increasing revenues, some companies broaden their variety of products to capture potential markets. Ferrari have their very own brand of clothing line. Maggi starts producing seasoning for white rice (http://www.maggime.com/english/products.asp) and the list goes on.
Ever so rarely, companies venture into markets which have absolutely no link to their forte. When I was shopping for stationeries at Barnes and Nobles today, I came across some notebooks. And you wouldn’t believe what brand I saw on the shelf. I think Bush adopting Islam is more believable. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger getting a sex change is more believable.

Maybe some of you have seen Nike stationeries but notebooks? Wtf !!! Has writing become a sport?
